How To Delete Tasks in Numeric

Task deletion in Numeric depends on the type of task and your user role. Here's how to delete different types of tasks:

Permission Requirements

Only users with the Administrator role can delete tasks in Numeric. Users with Manager, Staff, or Viewer roles cannot delete tasks.

Deleting Regular Checklist Tasks

To delete a regular checklist task:

  1. Click on the task to open the task sidebar

  2. Click the 3-dot menu (⋮) in the top-right corner of the sidebar

  3. Select "Delete Task" from the dropdown menu

  4. If the task is recurring, you'll be prompted to choose whether to delete just one instance or all future instances

Bulk Deletion

You can delete multiple tasks at once using the bulk editor:

  1. Use the checkboxes on the left side of tasks to select multiple items

  2. Hold Shift and click to select a range, or use Cmd/Ctrl + Click for specific tasks

  3. Use the bulk edit toolbar at the bottom of the screen to delete selected tasks

Important: Bulk deletion will fail if any of the selected tasks is a reconciliation task. Make sure to select only regular (non-reconciliation) tasks when using bulk delete.

Reconciliation Tasks Cannot Be Deleted

Tasks with a scale icon next to them are reconciliation tasks tied to your GL accounts and cannot be deleted. If you try to delete these, you'll see an error message: "Cannot delete tasks of type 'Reconcile'" or "Deletion of report tasks is not supported."

To remove reconciliation tasks from your checklist view, you have three options:

  • Filter them out: Use the filter controls in the top-right of the checklist tab to hide reconciliation tasks from your view

  • Remove the category assignment: Go to the Reconcile tab, find the account, and remove its Category tag to hide it from the checklist

  • Change frequency to "Never": Update the reconciliation frequency so it's no longer required and can be filtered out of your view

Important Notes

  • Deleting a task does not affect historical records from past periods

  • Bulk deletion is not available for reconciliation tasks

  • If you're unable to see the delete option, check that you have Administrator permissions and that you're not trying to delete a reconciliation task
