Close Pulse — Live Close Dashboard

Last updated: April 17, 2026

A live close management dashboard with five diagnostic lenses — materiality, urgency, progress, pace, and dependencies. Ask in plain language and get a quick read on close health without opening Numeric.

Before You Begin

  • Numeric MCP connected.

  • Numeric Toolkit installed.

  • At least one open close period with tasks assigned.

  • (Optional) Slack MCP connected if you want to post digests to a channel.

How It Works

  1. Ask Claude a close-status question. Example prompts:

    • "How's the close going?"

    • "What's overdue?"

    • "Who's behind?"

    • "Are we on track?"

  2. Claude picks the right lens based on your question (or runs all 5 if you ask for a full dashboard).

  3. Claude pulls task data from the target period (defaults to most recent open).

  4. Claude produces a markdown summary — in chat by default.

Optional: post the digest to Slack, or save it as Excel/markdown.

What You Get

Lens

Answers

By the Numbers (materiality)

Accounts over threshold, large variances

By the Dates (urgency)

Overdue tasks, who's late, days past due

By the Progress

Completion % by module, assignee, or report

By the Pace

Run rate vs pace needed, ahead/behind status

By Dependencies

Blocking tasks, critical path, who's waiting on whom

Lenses auto-route based on your question. "What's material?" → Lens 1. "Who's behind?" → Lens 2. "Everything" → all 5.

Troubleshooting

Issue

What to Check

Dashboard says "0 tasks"

Some workspaces return 0 on unfiltered list_tasks. Try specifying a task type, or confirm the period ID.

Slack post didn't send

Slack MCP must be connected separately. The skill won't silently fall back.

Wrong period

Default is the most recent open period. Specify explicitly if that's not what you want.

Stale data

close-pulse reads live MCP data every run — if stale, check Numeric's own UI for the same discrepancy.

FAQ

  • Can I schedule this daily? Yes — pair with Claude Cowork's schedule skill for daily close-week digests.

  • Does it take actions? Read-only by default. It can batch-post reminders via add_task_comment if you explicitly ask, always with confirmation.

  • Can I scope to one module? Yes — say "flux status" or "recon overdue" and it scopes automatically.

  • Different from Cross-Workspace Dashboard? Yes. Close Pulse is for a single workspace with deep task-level triage. Cross-Workspace Dashboard is for multiple workspaces with aggregated comparative views.
