NetSuite SuiteAnalytics: Workbook vs. Connect
Last updated: August 18, 2025
NetSuite offers two powerful analytics tools—SuiteAnalytics Workbook and SuiteAnalytics Connect—but they serve different purposes and are often confused. This guide clarifies their differences and helps you determine which one best fits your reporting needs.
Prerequisites
Numeric's Warehouse Sync integration requires having the SuiteAnalytics
Connect module on your NetSuite plan for instances with large volumes of transactions.
NetSuite admins can validate if this is currently available on your existing plan by navigating to Enable Features within NetSuite:
Go to
Setup>Company>Enable Features. On the Analytics subtab, in the Data Management section, enable SuiteAnalytics Connect.
Click the Save button.
Why Numeric Needs NetSuite Suite Analytics Connect
Numeric uses SuiteAnalytics Connect for direct database access, enabling more structured and scalable financial data extraction. Unlike NetSuite’s standard API (i.e., SuiteAnalytics Workbook), which has rate limits and can struggle with large data volumes, SuiteAnalytics Connect allows Numeric to pull financial data directly from NetSuite’s database using SQL. This ensures faster processing, deeper subledger management, and automated reconciliations.
By leveraging SuiteAnalytics Connect, Numeric can handle multi-entity consolidations, high transaction volumes, and complex financial tracking with greater accuracy and efficiency. Bulk data extraction reduces API load, ensuring seamless integration for high-performance financial automation and reporting.

What Is SuiteAnalytics Connect?
Overview
SuiteAnalytics Connect is a separate NetSuite feature that provides direct database access for querying and exporting NetSuite data into external systems, BI tools, and spreadsheets.
Key Features
Connects NetSuite to external tools like Power BI, Tableau, and Excel
Requires SQL knowledge to write queries
Uses ODBC, JDBC, or ADO.NET drivers to extract structured data
Data is not live; updates depend on NetSuite refresh schedules
Why It Matters
SuiteAnalytics Connect is ideal for data analysts, engineers, and finance teams who need SQL-level access for deeper insights, large data extractions, and external reporting.
If you do not have SuiteAnalytics Connect, you will need to reach out to your NetSuite account manager for pricing. Depending on both your transaction volume and existing agreement with NetSuite, this add-on cost can vary widely between $2.5k (10s of thousands of new monthly transaction lines)-$25k (millions of new monthly transaction lines).
What Is SuiteAnalytics Workbook?
Overview
SuiteAnalytics Workbook is a built-in NetSuite tool for interactive data analysis. It allows users to create custom reports, pivot tables, and charts directly within NetSuite without needing SQL or third-party software.
Key Features
Drag-and-drop UI for custom reports
Works in real-time with live NetSuite data
Allows filters, formulas, and visualizations
Limited to NetSuite's standard and custom records
Common Misconception
Many users assume that SuiteAnalytics Workbook enables external data access. However, it only works within NetSuite and does not allow for direct database queries using SQL.
Limitations of Traditional Sync
Flux reports only available by GL account and department.
Flux reports can only be consolidated into the parent-level entity.
